Management is the act of getting people together to accomplish desired goals and objectives using available resources efficiently and effectively. It consists of five basic functions, namely planning, organizing, staffing, leading or directing and controlling. Today’s business environment is complex and critical and hence it becomes difficult to restrict the definition of management to a few functions or processes. A manager is responsible for the successful implementation of business processes by putting to use his managerial skills.  An effective manager needs to adhere to the fundamental management principles as well as exhibit leadership skills.
